I guffawed.

This has been the thing that has bugged me about Tara since sometime
in S5. Tara will do some interpretation of Will's meaning or look and
I find myself totally scratching my head. (Man, you shoulda heard me
describing my immediate reaction to that scene. I went totally
ballistic. Glad I had time to calm down before I saw the whole ep, cuz
otherwise I woulda been seething for at least half an hour.)
What I found REALLY interesting, tho, was that Willow didn't back down
and "forgive" Tara's blunder. When Will said she "wasn't..." Tara
tried to lighten the mood by referring to their marathon and apparently
noisy sex antics, but Willow didn't go with her: She stayed focussed on
being worried about Buffy.
(If W/T were so noisy, how did Dawn not hear them?)

HA! I had that EXACT reaction! At first I was like, "Huh, you're not
so bad today; musta got that regimen worked out, eh?" But later on it
was, "Heeeey, waitaminute! You ARE annoying me!"
There's just something so...false about Dawn. False emotionality
(fakeness, or at least perceived fakeness) makes my neck muscles cramp.
And I agree on the forcedness of the S&D scene. After ME has spent
months pounding us over the head with grinding repitition, NOW they
decide to pick up something they've COMPLETELY IGNORED since ep 2?!

Totally.
I'm not sure I liked the editing of that scene, btw.

Yeah. I kept thinking about Dan. I still don't believe they will go
there if for no other reason that SMG and NB have zilch *sexual*
chemistry and are way too siblingy at this point, but I gotta admit
that ME seemed to be testing the waters. OTOH, as you alluded to
later, they were contrasting B/X and W/T. Now, normally, the B/X
scenes would have been B/W/X scenes, but they had to have Will with
Tara. So all the energy was contained in a dyad instead of a triad, so
B/X *seemed* more intense than normal. IOW, their intensity was
partially a result of plotting necessity... ya know?
Speaking of plotting necessities: The B/X effect wasn't bad, but what
about having to get Will and Tara out of the house in prep for the
bathroom scene? W/T actually went to Tara's dorm room!! Dawn went to
visit Janice to give them time alone; time was of the essence in
tracking down the Troika; yet W/T packed up and went to Tara's room?!
WTF?!

I thought maybe DeKnight was throwing in a "growing up" thing. But I
don't know how to feel about it. I mean, I can understand both of
their viewpoints.
okay, now we're getting to the part that i'm most jazzed about...

Exactly! (but i think the heaven thing was mentioned again at least in
part because we needed a reminder as to how everyone got to where they
are, ya know? i think there's more down the pike on that point, in any
case.)
> Where are our Buffy/Willow avowals? GRRRRR
Cas, you're touching on the huge, polka-dotted elephant that everyone
danced around in this ep. Buffy.Never.Told.Willow. Ever. It dawned
on me halfway thru that B&W never talked about Spuffy so I started
watching for clues that an offscreen disclosure had been made. Nope.
In point of fact, Buffy made a conscious choice to hide the Spike
assault from Willow -- even tho she'd just been laying there with her
robe open during that whole time with Xander. And that was after she'd
already danced around the 'Spike as Scooby' issue when Dawn brought it
up *even though* Buffy knew that Tara and Dawn knew about Spuffy. Now,
certainly, Buffy might have guessed that Tara or Dawn told Willow, but
even so she seemed awful reluctant to actually acknowledge it herself
to Willow. Furthermore, Gershman threw in a reaction shot of Willow
waiting to see and hear Buffy's response. Very specific, that.
hmmm...something's brewing on the horizon with B/W, something that goes
beyond Witchy Willow. I can't wait!
And let me just state right now for the record that I'm gonna enjoy
every moment of Black Magic Willow. I fully expect ME to take Her
Witchiness away from me after o these many seasons of delight, so I'm
gonna enjoy it while it lasts. Also, Warren needs to pay.
(btw, why did Xander burst into the bathroom? is that really the first
place you look for someone? And doncha usually knock?? Did Buffy's
"I'm in here" get cut or sumpin?)
one last thing: both Tara and Buffy were startled by Will. hmm.
