Re: Re: Take on 'Seeing Red'; SPOILERS
This was a letter in reply to Angie's offlist fb for my review, but I
thought I should share the parts that were followups to Cas and
blinviz/DEM's posts in this thread.

Apologies to W/T for my interpretation of their absence during the rape
scene. Apparently, as DEM pointed out, the room with the gold sheets is
Tara's new dorm room, which we'd never seen before. I was thrown,
because the wardrobe (are there NO closets in Sunnydale? No, Stevenson
214 had one) is in the same place (right of the bed, just below the foot
of it) that Willow has Joyce's wardrobe in her room. But they're
actually not in the house while this is going down. When Willow bounds
into the bathroom doorway from the right-hand side, she's not coming
from her room, but from the stairs, which are in between her room and
the bath. Indeed, you can hear the front door just before Willow
enters. Really, it's JUST before, so Joss knows how she got up there
that quick, but anyway...
Also, another catch by DEM, Willow actually seems to see the bruise on
Buffy's thigh. She's looking down BEFORE Buffy covers it up, then she
looks at Xander and asks what happened and Buffy says "nothing".
And Willow lets it go, which she never would. I'm beginning to think
DEM's right, and they are playing some sort of deliberate disconnect on
Willow's part, because there's no way she wouldn't at least have said
"But, Buffy, you're hurt!" and dropped down to her knees to try and get
a closer look. (Not to mention, fondling Buffy's thigh, always fun.)
It's more than just the "physical space as metaphor for emotional space"
theory that Cas and I were talking about regarding "Gone" and "Dead
Things".
And since "Dead Things" seemed to tie the knot on the resurrection
spell, it can't be anything mystical. Unless perhaps Rack took
something out of her in "Wrecked"? But my happy 'shipper theory is that
Willow's been distancing herself because she's starting to break through
the Wall of Denial and realize that she's in love with Buffy, and she
hasn't yet been able to "leave Tara's room" and face it, so she's
pushing Buffy away, as much as it's possible for her to do. This would
also explain why she's all about Buffy when she's with Tara, but sucking
major Tara face when Buffy's in the room.
And one more shoutout to Cas: we've had the friendly W/X "I love you" in
"Hell's Bells" and the B/X "I love you" here. Why haven't we had a B/W
one, particularly since Marti's ep next week is apparently going to be
about that friendship? It can't be uneasiness about saying it, it can't
be that they're going to keep Willow evil and want to soft-pedal the
friendship (it would raise the emotional stakes, after all). No, it
seems like there has to be a reason they've been keeping that back, and
all I can think is that Marti's really going to be probing the depth of
that feeling, with Buffy trying to draw Willow back to her. I hope.
And again, I can't really see Marti "has two mommies" Noxon being so
mean to Willow and Tara unless she was going to do something nice for
Will, like hook her up with her true soulmate. Plus, didn't DeKnight
say they couldn't kill Tara, because then where would the hot
girl-on-girl action come from? Where indeed :) (Unless they start with
the Dawn/Janice thing...)
Dan
probably deluding himself like the Kittens did this week (there's still
a whole lot of B/X out there...), but ain't it fun?
