<sheepish grin> Oops. And here I thought I was doing
so well. Ah well, did anyone ever find a home for
that new spoiler board (the replacement for JAABAW?)
It would be nice not to have to worry about the space
:) I looked around a bit, but any free place is
likely to be inundated with ads, and I don't recall
any final agreement on paid space over on the Ikoly
list...
Now, as for your actual points ;) (stealing space for
late season 6, no 7)

In a world of perfect writing, perhaps. (Then again,
in a world of perfect writing, most of season 6 would
never have happened the way it did.) Foreshadowing
would be subtle on first viewing and perfectly clear
after the heralded event transpires. Dream symbolism
would be followed up on. Continuity would be
maintained. Subplots wouldn't be left in the dust.
Vampires wouldn't drive from California to Africa in
less than a day on motorcycles.
But like you said, at this point I'd be happy just to
hear them say they love each other :)

And here I was being all literal about it. Hmm.
Thing is, parts of the dreams certainly seemed to be
shared and significant *beyond* the thoughts of the
dreamers themselves. So I was taking the "big
brother" scene as coming from both Buffy and Xander.
And the vibes I was getting were "affirmative
sincerity" rather than "fear," but I might have been
distracted and missed something. Heck, this is the
first time watching "Restless" that I actually
realized the guy sitting with Riley was Adam. Go
figure.

It's obvious that Angel was always interested in
Giles. Besides their being the closest in age and
maturity, Angel was quite worried about Giles'
feelings after he came back from hell. Watch him
closely when he goes to Giles' apartment in "Amends."
Supposedly he's trying to figure out why he's been
brought back, but it's plain that the reason he goes
to Giles' is to find some sense of solace; Giles' lack
of trust in him, even in his souled self, hurts him
deeply. The First Evil's choice of Jenny to haunt him
was really intended to drive a wedge between him and
Giles, and seems to have succeeded, partly because at
that point the writers were still stuck on the crazy
idea that the show was all about Buffy and her
tagalong mopey vampire Angel.
Now, Giles' interest in Angel is harder to spot, but
is still there -- and, incidentally, brings us back to
"Restless." Giles says that Spike is like a son to
him, and we know that while Dru sired Spike, Angel
acted as his sire most of the time. So Giles is
taking on a parental role alongside Angel, affirming
their relationship.
Of course, by that time Angel is already entrenched in
L.A., but there's always fanfic. Good on you for
seeing the validity of the 'ship.
Yours in Wuffydom, I remain,
Jason Rune
