Thanks for resonding to my post E. Sometimes I think my stuff never goes through...cuz I never seem to get any reply. I agree with some of your rebuttle...especially the part I pasted above. I don't think Spike was a better human that Angel though. They were both sad little boys...Angel showed it by bullying...while William showed it by acting pompous.
Thats one of the issues within in BtVS though...judging others....thinking one is better than another....whether they're human or possibly a good demon.
Thankfully...Willow ONLY killed Warren. Buffy prevented her from killing the other two nerds along with Giles and Anya's help. Xander with his talk of unconditional...love...saved her from destroying the world. THAT was not W/X scene though....in a romantic sense. The thing about romantic love...especially on BtVS...is that it doesn't last. Its friendship...best friendship that transcends romantic love. Its unconditional.
Buffy was all ready to kill Angelus in Season 2...she NEVER wanted to kill Willow...hec...she didn't even want to fight her until Willow pushed her and she had to...but she only fought her to keep her from destroying herself. In Buffy's mind...Warren's murder was understandable....but she didnt' think killing Jonathan and Warren was.
Even after Buffy knew what Willows intentions were at the end. She just wanted Willow to be happy. I think that says something.
I agree with Cas. I will not watch BtVS if it becomes the B/S raising Dawn show....I don't think it will though. I maintain that a truly remorseful William / Spike will not think himself good enough for Buffy. On the other hand....a non remorseful Spike...Buffy won't go to.
Now I'm going to comment on something Dan said:
"But now there can't be anything deeper about B/W in Willow's psyche,
because if Willow was secretly in love with Buffy (you know, Sapphic
poem, "salesman" speech, Buffy saving her when Tara can't, etc.), it
surely would have come out now, right? I'll be overjoyed if they have
Willow admit she loves Buffy at some time in the future, but I really
can't conceive of it, not after she had a total breakdown, tried to
destroy the world and everyone in it, and all she could dredge up from
her heart is "no one but Tara ever made me feel loved". "
I firmly believe that if Riley and Tara had not been placed in the mix...B/W would have gravitated towards each other. There was love there. I think poor Willow suppressed it though....and Buffy consciously didn't recognize it. Then with the guilt Willow felt for taking Buffy from heaven...coupled with Buffy disconnection from life this past season.....why wouldn't Willow think no one but Tara loved her.
I think - should the writers choose to go that route next season - there is still a chance for some kind of B/W shippyness. LIke I've said...Buffy may not have said she loved Willow...but she certainly showed it..in everything thing that she did during the BtVS finale. Her main concern was this: " I am NOT going to let Willow destroy herself". Again....she NEVER felt that way about Angel. How could that not be shippy?? Can't a 'ship' be about best-friend love, or is it only about romantic love...the kind of love that never lasts???
