Well, I think we can all give up what ever vague hope we were clinging
to for B/W. I know some people thought that Buffy might be that new
romance Marti was talking about for Willow, but Joss's statement that
we're still stuck with Amber Benson pretty much scotches that, IMO.

Marti said that Willow will have a new romance coming on later in the
season "and you'll never believe who it is!", and David Fury said
Willow's still gay, so I'm thinking Amber comes back as
Tara's doppelganger or identical cousin or whatnot. Oh, good, more
simpering. 

Well, maybe Amber will play the new character differently, show off
previously undreamt-of skills, the way that David Boreanaz did as
Angelus. Actors do improve, after all. Maybe it was Tara herself, and
not the way Amber played her, that I didn't like. (I'm thinking it was a
mixture of actor and role, but I could be wrong.) Maybe Willow's
romance with the new Amber character won't seem the six kinds of creepy
that the concept seems to imply. Maybe the new character won't treat
Willow like a puppy that has to perform for her love and beg for her
approval. Maybe Amber's new character won't give her dogmatic lectures
so that ME can make the point that Willow is evil scum and always was
and needs to be destroyed. Maybe Marti will decide that if Willow needs
to date her mother they can just bring back Sheila Rosenberg and do the
incest thing for real.

Maybe Jonathan and Andrew will pay for kidnapping, raping, and murdering
Katrina. Oh, no, Joss said they'll be back because they made him laugh.
Yeah, okay.

(But I'm glad to see that the advertisers made Buffy quit the Doublemeat
Palace. Romancing your rapist, fine; murderers as comic relief, fine;
making fun of fast food, unforgiveable. Nice to see that there are some
standards in corporate America, huh?)

Maybe I'll be glad when they finally put the show out of its misery and
I can pretend that it ended at graduation. (The occasional enjoyable
"Give me an Emmy, already!" Joss-ep of later seasons notwithstanding.)

But in the meantime, boo on me for being so foolish as to assume that
just because they killed Tara (and destroyed Willow's character in the
process, spat on Tara's fans and the gay community as a whole, and
retconned in that "only Tara ever loved me" crap so as to destroy every
moment of Willow's life that wasn't spent licking the boots of the
Perfect Lesbian Earth Mother), I'd at least have the small solace of
knowing that Amber was gone, that we could at least attempt to move
forward. 

Nah, stupid me, we'll get Tara 2, woo hoo. And she'll forgive Willow
for not being worthy of the (literal) Saint Tara, just as Buffy forgives
SouledSpike for everything he did wrong and Anya forgives Xander for
everything he did "wrong" (silly me, I figure if you don't want to marry
the girl, you shouldn't marry her, but ME disagrees and will keep
punishing Xander for it, apparently) and massive boredom and
anti-chemistry will rule the land.

Ah, well, since I'm not actually watching the show any more, I suppose I
should just say it without bitterness:

In My Opinion, Joss's statement that "Tara won't be back, but Amber
will" and other statements that Amber Benson will return to the series
(Jane Espenson at the Succubus Club talking about "some version of
Tara") seem to indicate that Amber will play Willow's "new" "You'll
never believe who it is" love interest later in Season 7.

There, that was actually bitter-free. Yay, me.
