I dunno about entirely bitter-free, but you're getting better.

Okay

Some spoiler space

for

a

little

speculation

on

the

future

of

Amber

Benson

Now, what I pretty much know about next season is that both Willow and Spike
will face the music for their actions at the end of the season. As for Amber
Benson's return to the show, another possibility is that she will be playing
Tara's ghost, remaining in the physical world to comfort Willow and
ultimately provide closure. Another possibility is that Willow, to atone for
her misdeeds, offers to tutor Dawn in controlling her growing powers(hinted
at in 'Grave'), or act as her Watcher. This will also help her reestablish
her relationship with Buffy. And if Tara's ghost wants to play
matchmaker...Okay, maybe most of that's wishful thinking, but wouldn't that
make a hellacious fanfic?

Ultimately, Willow will be called to account for her turning evil at the end
of the season, and Spike will face up to his attempt to rape Buffy. I
predict that Willow will succeed in atoning for her past crimes, but Spike
won't, and will fall back to his evil self, soul or no soul. I'm still
reminded of an interview I read a few months ago, where James Marsters said
two things;

1) he compared his role on BtVS to Malcolm McDowell in Kubrick's "A Clockwork
Orange", who was conditioned to become violently ill if he considered
committing rape again, but was still evil. And;

2) a direct quote from James; "I don't think that William was that nice a guy
before he got turned."

Just remember, having a soul doesn't automatically make you good.

And for the record, Dan, I love you like a brother, but you gotta take some
stress management! This bitterness is gonna give you ulcers! Look at it
this way; Buffy's finally out of her season-long depression, of which her
boinking Spike was a symptom, and hopefully will get a better job along the
way! Tell me, you ever try to pay a mortgage, utilities, food and clothes
for two on the minimum wage that most fast-food joints pay? What I hated
most about last season, what I believe was the source of many of Buffy's (and
the show's) troubles last season was the whole
"Buffy-can-fight-vampires-but-can't-face-the-real-world" storyline that ran
through most of last season. Since that storyline seems to be over, here's
hoping that Joss has learned from his mistakes from last season.

Don't give up the Ship!
