OT: Warning, Bitterness Ahoy!
Hi, no Season 7 spoilers whatsover in this post.
I'm
just
using
the
space
so
people
who
don't
want
to
read
my
bitter
rantings
can
delete
this
and
move on.
Pardon the extra space, that sentence ran a little long.
Now that I'm caught in Bitter Mode again, I just have two questions:
1) Just out of curiousity, can anyone point out ANYTHING that is
actually good about the show any more? Aside from the fact that Aly is
still trapped on it, I mean? (I was going to give them points for
giving Xander his manhood back in "Hell's Bells", but then they took it
away again in the finale, so...)
("How dare you not marry me, Xander! You're a loser and a little boy
and you need to grow up! Look at me, I have no soul but I am still
perfectly human and wonderful and have "kewl" new powers and will
forgive you if you crawl enough even though you don't deserve it!")
( "I know, An, I know, I'm just dirt and scum and worthless. That's why
I'm a good friend to Willow, because she's a walking pile of immature
crybaby crap, too. We were losers in high school because we deserved to
be; pretty people like Dawn are much better than the socially
marginalized. If you're unpopular, it's because you're evil and needy
and psychotic and gay. Just look at Warren and his pals. I only hope
that you privileged pretty people will take pity on us and not run me
and Will over with a cement mixer like we deserve to be.")
2) Is it me, or does ME hate our leads? Why else do Perfect Tara and
Fishwife Anya get to continually tell us what shit Willow and Xander
are? Why does Buffy love her rapist and miss him terribly when he's in
Africa?
Personally I think that Joss and Marti conjured up these
one-dimensional, Perfect Love Interests in Oz and Riley, fell in love
with them, and are now blaming Willow and Buffy for Green and Blucas's
departures. I think that's the diference between writing real,
flesh-and-blood characters and writing saintly "he'll never treat her
wrong" types; Joss and Marti fell in love with the saints and started
to hate the humans.
Sorry about the relapse into the extreme bitterness; it's hard to stop
once I start. I'm a Bitterness Addict!
Dan
(oh, and "good stuff about the show" does not include body parts. Yes,
it's nice watching Michelle's breasts grow, and Emma has a lovely butt.
But you don't have to actually watch the show to see that stuff.)
