In a S6 episode called 'All the way' Dawn tells her "date" that she is a 
freshman... and in a few other episodes she mentions that she's 15, or 
almost 16....
so S7 should have her being a sophomore (grade 10) and 16 yo.
Umm... the reference of her going to high school might be b/c they are 
opening up a new Sunnydale high.. or just another h/s.... also... i know of 
some school systems that have middle school from grade 7-9.. (as well as 
some high schools run from grade 8 to grade 12... ) but i think basically 
she is just continuing high school.. just at a new one.
