Ok, this is my answer to Dan's incredibly complete
critic job of Lessons. If you still havent gotten the
point, SPOILER.

First off, I really do agree about the whole Willow
points you've made. Why is she even still on the show?
I mean, she's in England. The guys in Sunnydale don't
even MENTION her!! Not one "I wonder how Will's doing
with Giles?" "I hope she's doing better" or "I miss
Will" or EVEN "I'm glad Will's gone" NOTHING. Come on
Joss! Willow, everybody's best friend? Forgot about
that one over the last year? And why does she still
have powers? Or whatever. We were tortured enough last
season with the whole magick addiction plot. 

OH! About torture, a nice little bdsm reference for
fans out there. When Willow told Giles that she
thought he was bringing her to England to kill her or
put her in a dongeon to be tortured, she looked all
"excited" about the torture part (in an old Willow
bubbly babble way) and Giles asks her if she wants to
be punished! :D Let the bdsm smut fiction begin. I
think I'll take that pic of Willow in the credits when
she's in Buffy's bedroom with the long hair and no
makeup and make it the start point of a new bdsm B/W
fic where Buffy punishes Willow for her past mistakes
and then LETS HER MOVE ON. Whaddya think? I can
probably do a better job than Joss.

Secondly, I too have noticed that Tara wasn't
mentioned at all. Even when Willow was thinking about
the "I killed people" thing, not even one thought of
Tara. Oh but we did get the "Previously on Buffy" shot
of Tara being killed by a bullet through the heart!
DAMMIT JOSS! Did we really need to see that again
fuck! We get it! You killed her and made Willow eveil.
WE GET IT!

The show wasn't all bad. I did appreciate the fact
that Dawn wasnt whiny. Xander finally LOOKS like he's
out of his folks' basement (ie the nice clothes, the
good car, looks like he got a promotion) And there
were a few good jokes in there.

Im running late for work, so I'll just tell you what i
WISH would happen on the show (and im really not
holding my breath or having high hopes here!)

1- Willow back in Sunny D, being a part of things
again and not only a "plot device" You made us love
her over the years, dont destroy her. And come on, the
whole "I wanna be Willow./You are Willow." Is that a
crack at us not recognizing her anymore. Whos fault is
that dammit?

2- I don't want Dawn to be a Slayer. I think it's time
she finally learned how to defend herself, I have
nothing against that. I mean, involving the little
bratty sister in "fighting the forces of evil" gives
us one Non-whiny Dawnie. Im all for it. But please, no
Dawn the Vampire Slayer. NO

3- Eliza is signed to return to Angel and Buffy. I
dont want Faith to return as the "rogue slayer". That
bit is tired. Please! If you're gonna make Buffy evil
and kill her off or whatever, let Faith take over
instead of Dawn. And even that, thats the worst case
scenario. I dont agree in there being a BtVS if there
is no Buffy. I dont agree with taking the HERO of the
show and making her a common garden variety big bad.
We deserve more than that. Its like watching a really
good movie and falling totally for its protagonist
only to discover in the end, in a very unconvincing
and shitty manner, that our beloved hero is the bad
guy. BAD! Quit making Buffy a mommy, a serious
grown-up and bring us back the hero we had in Season
1-2. ARGH! I'd like to see Buffy fight the forces of
evil for the sake of "fighting the good fight" rather
than to make the world safe FOR DAWN ONLY. 

4- I hate what they've done with Spike. He used to be
an interesting character. I liked his acidic sarcasm
after he was nutered. But I didnt like Spuffy! And I
hated the rape idea/scene/whole deal. And I hate it
even more that Buffy seemed to PITY him when she found
him in the school basement. Enough about that, Im
getting real angry.

5- No Scrappy Gang. No Dawn and the "new" Scooby Gang.
Is the gang (Will, Xand, Buff, G-Man, An) dead? Oh!
Yeah! It IS! GODDAMMIT!!!! We dont need a new bunch of
slayerettes. Just bring the gang back together. :(

6- I just want the show to be about: 
* Buffy being a hero that cares about her sacred duty
* Fighting evil (EVIL evil: bad vamps, big demons,
prophecies, dangerous stuff!)
* Girl power (not destroying every female character
that's ever had power: Willow had power, shes now a
badass addict in England; Tara had power, but they
made her Willow's shadow until she was shot; Anya had
power, lost it, and now HAS it again, but she's still
sooooo hurt about Xander and now TOO human to be a
good vengeance demon... shall i go on?) "Who has the
power?" Buffy asked Dawn. YOU DO BUFFY, YOU DO!

Ok, gotta go now. Sorry about the rant. Needed to
vent.
