Feedback and Personal Commentary
First off, I used to write in TS, ST: TOS, RG, B5 and XF fandoms. I never not once out of 247 stories ever got feedback. I always tried to feedback to authors, but not once did I get one. I rationalized it as as how much does a print author get really?
And now, I've had some serious medical problems, so I save the stories and read them at my worst, often keeping me from thoughts of less pleasant things. I do not have free or unimited access to the internet so my time is limited to literally getting the stories.
So, Authors, if you want feedback, give yourselves a hug. Write for yourselves, but realize that in doing so you *ARE* helping others, sharing your love of a universe, but you are not doing it for feedback. And if you are, then seek help. I write to purge my emotions, to work through personal issues, and sometimes, just to see where a story will go. In other words, stop waving your hand at the ocean shouting for it to notice you, it never will.
Meg
Remember, I've got a grip on reality,
but that's just so that I can strangle it.
