<<<I think Amber Benson would have been slightly more creepy than Azura Skye
was (assuming Amber could have played the menace credibly). If Amber could
have sold us that maybe Tara really wanted Willow to "join her", it would
have been very scary.
That said, I think there was an excellent reason for Amber not to return.
Because the character of Tara and her fans had been treated so shabbily last
year, having Amber return only to torture Willow would have been excessive
cruelty and disrespect for the audience.>>>
Actually. . .Amber Benson did not return because she couldn't reach an
agreement with FOX where money was concerned. NOT because she didn't like
the plot, NOT because she wouldn't play a
ghost-type-channel-the-first-type-thingie and most of all NOT because she
wanted to spare the feelings of all the Will/Tara lovers. Just, you know,
to clear up the record . . .
She could not reach a money agreement becuase of the script the two things
are very closely related. Most actors who have personal intergraty and a
good agent don't want to get stuck doing crappy parts with low screen time
at below their former scale pay. They offered her well below her old pay
scale and not much screen time. So it was the script in that she said I'm
not gonna do anything deal with this the money was a kicker not the primary
issue.
