"So everyone knows the drill?" Willow asked the assembled group
sitting in her living room. She looked around the room, staring at
the faces of the people she had come to consider her family and her
lovers.
"I think we can handle things here," Faith said pulling the red head
closer to her and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Ok then as soon as Robert gets his sorry ass here we can get going."
Willow said looking at Mike and smiling.
"Were is he?" Buffy asked from her spot on the couch beside Tara.
"He had to stop for some supplies," Willow muttered and walked into
the kitchen.
Angie couldn't keep the smirk off her face as she followed her mother
into the kitchen, "Is that what their calling it now. Supplies?"
Robert came through the back door carry a large paper sack in his
hand, "I can't believe how hard it is to get good liquor in this one
horse town. I had to go to two different places. I hope the hell you
are happy?"
"If ya got my favorite I will be very happy," Willow said and peeked
into the bag Robert had sat on the counter. " Have I told you how
much I love you today?"
"Your gonna get drunk before you go off to fight?" Buffy yelled from
her spot by the door.
"Um yeah? Slayer got a problem with it?" Mike asked opening the
bottle of whiskey and taking a swig.
"Hell yeah I have a problem. You expect me to let the three drunk
stooges go out and save the world?" Buffy began to pace around the
kitchen glaring at her lover, who had been quietly opening her
bottle, finding a glass and ignoring her. "Can you people hear the
words coming out of my mouth?"
"Buffy?" Willow started but was interrupted by Buffy.
"Oh no don't Buffy me. I refuse to let you go out there drunk."
Willow growled and turned to Angie, motioning for her to handle the
irate Slayer.
"Come on Buffy, lets let the grown ups play. I'll explain things,"
Angie said and led the blonde Slayer out to the living room.
Buffy began her pacing again scowling at the kitchen door, "Tara,
Faith you're not going to believe this. Your girlfriend is in there
getting drunk."
"WHAT?!" Faith screamed jumping off the couch and heading for the
kitchen.
"STOP!" Angie yelled stopping the brunette in her tracks, "They're
not in there getting sloshed, ok. It's a thing for them. It's kind of
like a bonding thing for them. They'll have a couple of shots and
then go. Trust me and if you can't do that then trust her."
"Your mom let them do this?" Tara asked coming up and putting her
arms around Buffy, trying to calm her before her head exploded.
"Hell my mom was right in there with them. Guys, I don't know a lot
about what mom was like when she lived here but you have to
understand and trust her. She would never do anything to put you or I
in danger. What she needs from us right now is our support," Angie
said and then cringed when she heard the sound of broken glass. "And
to clean up the glass."
"What the hell was that?" Buffy asked hurrying into the kitchen. She
found Willow and Mike holding their hands together, blood running
between their fingers. "Will?"
"Slayer, we're leaving. Protect her." Willow said and walked out the
backdoor followed by the watcher and vampire.
"Ooookaay, care to explain that one?" Faith said looking at the
broken glass mixed with blood on the kitchen floor.
"Bonding thing?" Tara said from beside Buffy.
"Umm?yeah. Makes her demon come out and play," Angie answered and
started to sweep up the mess.
"And that's a good thing?" Faith asked almost fearful.
Angie studied the adults that had gathered in her kitchen and nodded
her head, "Is if we wanna win."
"What'll happen when she comes home? How will she control it?" Joyce
asked?
"Most probably by getting her ass kicked." Angie whispered and turned
to the two Slayers in the room.
"You want us to do it?" Buffy squeaked and then looked at Tara.
"Well don't look at me. She'd mop the floor with me. Look guys don't
worry about it too much. I'm sure taking on the fifty or so vamps
that are gathered at the school should take care of most of it,"
Angie said dumping the last bit of glass in the trashcan.
"FIFTY?" Faith yelled and took up pacing beside Buffy.
"She didn't tell you. Dad?" Angie asked turning to look at Spike.
"Red told me not to say anything. Now you," he said pointing to his
daughter, "can deal with the pissed off witch."
"She has fucking lost her mind. Damnit Spike, how could you keep
something like from us? They're gonna get creamed. That's it lets go,
B. We need to get to the school," Faith started to the door followed
by Buffy.
"Will you guys chill out? There going to be fine and you if you run
off to play the Calvary she going to be really pissed off and you
really don't want to see my mom pissed off. Again I'm going to say
trust her. Dad, you said they're not all in one place right?"
"Yeah, there's like ten guarding the hellmouth, a few here and there,
the rest are in the gym."
"Ok, see. Why don't we go sit down and relax? They'll call as soon as
they know something," Angie sighed and headed for the living room,
followed by two very pissed off Slayers.
"So where should we start first? The gym or the library?" Robert
asked as they approached the burned out high school.
"I'm thinking we take out the group guarding the hellmouth and then
move to the rest. I would feel better about taking out the smaller
group first. I figured he would put his strongest minions there. Plus
it's been a long time since the three of us have worked together,
call it practice," Willow said pulling herself over the rubble.
"Lost your faith in us, hon?" Mike asked.
"Hell no but lets face none of us are getting younger?well except
Mike and he's not getting older either. And have I told you how much
that pisses me off. I found a gray hair the other day. I'm twenty-
five years old. What the hell is that about?"
Robert looked at his friend and grinned, "Might have something to do
with them three kids you got, one of which is a teenager. Or maybe
the three girlfriends you seemed to have acquired. You never did like
to do things half ass do ya, Will"
"Nope. What do you think about that?" Willow asked Robert.
"Do they make you happy?"
"Yeah, confused but happy."
Robert turned to the red head and smiled, "They seem to care about
you and the kids and I like them. I say to hell with normalcy and
have a ball."
"I agree besides I bet the stamina on the slayers is unbelievable,"
Mike teased her.
"You have no idea," Willow laughed.
"Ok well we're here, any last thoughts? Prayers?" Robert asked.
Willow hugged both man, "Thanks guys. I don't think I could ever
thank you enough for your support over the last few years. We would
have never survived without you."
"Aww shucks ma'am don't mention it," Robert answered in his best
southern accent.
"Oh good lord," Willow laughed and then put her fingers to her lips
as they approached the burned out library.
Angie watched as the two Slayers paced back and forth between the
windows and sighed. She had faith in her adopted mother and knew that
her watcher and vampire companion would die protecting her family.
She turned to see the blonde witch looking between her girlfriend
pacing and the clock on the wall and let a small chuckle escape her
lips.
"What the hell is so funny, kid?" Faith asked the laughing teenager.
"You guys crack me up. You guys are going to die of a heart attack if
you don't settle down. Tara, are they always this jumpy?"
"Um?yeah when comes to someone they love." Tara said wondering how
the young girl could be so calm.
As if she had been reading Tara mind Buffy asked, "How can you just
sit there and be so calm?
"Been here?done this. It's only been an hour; hell I won't even start
to worry for at least another one. They'll call when they have things
wrapped up. I?" Angie words were cut off as the sound of an explosion
echoed in the distance.
"Sounded like it came from the old school," Buffy said making her way
to the front door.
"Holy shit," Mike yelled rolling over to find his companions.
"Well hell, Red, could you have given as a slightly bigger head start
before you started the fireworks? I think the hair on the back of my
head is singed," Robert groaned sitting up running his fingers
through his hair.
"Oh you big babies," Willow said and winced when she sat up. "Damn I
don't think there's a thing on my body that doesn't hurt. Robert,
call the house before the posse shows up to rescue us."
Robert pulled out his phone and dialed the number to Willow's
house. "Hey kiddo. Yeah that was us. Your mom made school go boom.
Well we're all still alive. Some of us are a little worse for wear.
The old ladies gonna need some stitches in her head and maybe a few
other places I don't know. She seems to be holding her arm funny too.
Mike's all good though and I might need a hair transplant but it's
all good. We got them all. We should be heading your way soon. You
know the ritual. We're going to do a good sweep just to make sure we
took care of the problem, then find a nice quiet place to reflect."
"You mean get shit faced?" Angie laughed into the phone. "See you
soon and tell mom it had better be real soon. I'm not babysitting the
Slayers all night. It took all of us to keep them from running out
after we heard the explosion." She hung up the phone and turned to
the room full of expectant faces, "Their fine. Some bumps, bruises,
maybe some stitches. They won."
"And the explosion?" Tara asked.
"I quote Robert `Mom made school go boom'." Angie laughed at the
shocked look of the older people in the room. "They should be headed
home shortly. They like to double check and make sure they got
everyone and to again quote Robert `find a nice quiet place to
reflect', translated means get completely drunk off their asses."
"I so don't understand your mother," Buffy grumbled, not at all
thrilled to find out that her best friend and lover was running
around getting drunk.
"But we gotta love her anyway. So hears what I'm thinking. Dad, can
you take Mike home with you? I really would rather him and mom not be
too close to each other tonight. They do way too many crazy things
after a big fight if they are around each other. Mrs Summers, Mr.
Giles, can I spend the night with you? We could drop Robert at his
hotel, make sure he gets in ok."
"So you're going to leave us to handle the drunk half demon?" Faith
asked. "Wait a minute." Faith said then smirked when she thought
about her first night with Willow after her night of drinking, "Never
mind. We would love to baby-sit."
Angie noticed the smirk and smiled, "I kinda figure as much."
"Huh?what?" Buffy asked looking between the smiling teen and smirking
brunette Slayer.
"Just trust me, B. Your gonna love it."
"Um?Ok." Buffy shrugged and looked at her girlfriend who seemed to be
as lost as she was.
"Sir, I'm sorry," The woman told the man standing beside her.
"For what?" He asked.
"We lost."
"Have you ever heard the saying they may have won the battle but not
the war. We were never going to win this battle but the players are
in place."
"Sir, I don't understand." She told him looking over the burning
remains of the former high school below.
"Soon my young witch. Soon we will have the power you desire and the
revenge you seek against the red headed witch."
