My roommate is an elementary school teacher in California and she 
assures me that the cut-off birthdate for kindergarten selection is 
December 5th.  I also know people in California and Texas with late 
December birthdays who had to wait for the next school year because 
they missed December cut-off dates. I believe December 5th or 
sometime near that has been the cut-off date in California since at 
least 1979.
It's all irrelevant anyway because Tara is smart, so as far as we 
know she may have skipped a grade or two.  It's more common than you 
think. I skipped 4th grade, I have a friend who skipped 3rd grade and 
a distant relative who skipped two grades.  And we're all 
underachievers now, LOL.
I like what you said about the Wicca group -- that makes a lot of 
sense.
