Hmm, I could have sworn it was year-to-year, but I can't find that page
now.  Anyway, even if the cutoff is Dec 5th, not Dec 31st, that still
means that Tara (Oct 16th) would be in a different class from Willow,
born sometime the following year.

And of course, if Tara had skipped a grade, that would make her a year
farther ahead of Willow (junior to Willow's freshman), not in the same
year.  This is unlikely, since Tara is still attending classes in Season
6 and therefore is most likely not a junior in Season 4.

Yes, she could have been taking graduate classes, but this is less
likely because Buffy (who hadn't completed her sophomore) is auditing
her art class in "Life Serial".  Would a graduate class let Buffy in?
Also, I assume Willow would have made a big to-do over Tara's graduation
and that wasn't mentioned.

(Of course a million unmentioned things *could* have happened, but I'd
like to stay away from pure guesswork.  Or, if we have to posit stuff
with no mentions on the show, let's hypothesize that Willow and Buffy
have been together all along and Willow's just paying Tara to pretend
they're dating because Buffy isn't ready to come out yet <g>)
