Summary: Response to Cassandra’s Halloween challenge. Though I am stretching it a bit. Everyone knows there was something more going on.

Note: AU, Most of season 7 happened, but Sunnydale was not destroyed in the final fight with the first.

“You going to the Halloween party at the Bronze tonight?” Dawn asked her older sister.

“I didn’t get anything to wear. I was going to go on patrol for awhile and then maybe watch ‘Night of the Living Dead’.”

“Buffy, three things. One, Sunnydale is Slayer central. Two, The hell mouth is permanently closed. Three, and possibly the most important, demons avoid Halloween. How many times did Giles tell you that?”

“And how many times did something weird end up happening?”

“I believe that falls under the ‘hell mouth is permanently closed’ category. You have to go, everyone is. Besides, I knew something like this would happen, so I reserved you a Xena costume at the costume shop.”

“You going as Gabrielle?”

“No, I’m going as Mina Harker from ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’.”

“So, who’s going as Gabrielle?”

“Whoever rented the costume, I just got you the Xena one cause it was that or T’Pol, and I can’t picture you as a T’Pol.”

“Interesting costume Faith. What exactly are you supposed to be?” Buffy asked as she sat down at the table Faith and Dawn were at.

“Dracula.” Faith replied

“Wait a second. Dawn, you said you’re Mina Harker?”

“Yes Buffy, Faith and I are dating.”

“Oh ok. Are Willow and Kennedy here yet?”

“They’re picking up Vi and should be here soon.” Faith informed Buffy.

“So, you are ok with Faith and I being a couple?”

“Hello, best friend of a lesbian here. Besides, it explains a lot.” Buffy answered her sister. In her head, she added. ‘And if it weren’t for Kennedy, I would ask out Willow’

“There’s the lesbian best friend now, and boy does she look good.” Faith pointed out as she spotted Willow enter over Buffy’s shoulder. Buffy turned to see just as she was walking up to the table, to find that Willow was dressed as Gabrielle.

“YOU rented the Gabrielle costume?” Buffy asked, noting that Kennedy was dressed as Lancelot, and Vi as what had to be Guinevere.

“Well, see, I couldn’t decide what to wear, but then Dawn told me she knew I would have a hard time picking a costume, so she reserved this for me. She said it was this or T’Pol.” Buffy glared at her sister.

“Willow, sweetie, you know I love you right?” Kennedy asked her girlfriend.

“I love you too.” Willow replied, unsure as to why Kennedy asked the question.

“Why did you never notice the hotness that is Buffy?” Kennedy continued

“I did, but she’s straight, aren’t you?” Buffy shook her head.

“At least bisexual, but given my relationships with men, I think I’m through with them.”

“Then why did you never ask Willow out?” Dawn questioned.

“I was giving her time to mourn Tara, and dealing with Spike. I didn’t realize she was ready to move on till she started dating Kennedy.”

“Well, I’m not dating her anymore. As of this moment, Vi is my girlfriend. As you can tell, this was all a set up. Now, let’s get over this and kiss our redheads.” This earned Kennedy a glare from Faith. “Or brunettes, whichever the case may be.” She quickly amended before pulling Vi into an embrace. Buffy got up out of her chair and eagerly pressed her lips to Willow’s.

“I wonder who got T’Pol?” Just then, she noticed Xander enter with pointed ears. As he made his way over, she was relived to see that he was wearing a pair of black bell bottoms and a blue shirt.

“Finally embracing your geek hunh?” She asked, poking fun of his Spock costume.

“I could say the same for you.” He teased. Just then the DJ began playing the song ‘Monster Mash’.

“That I am. Come on Gabrielle, let’s dance.”
