People do use sound instead of words to make a point at times, a

Yes very Primal. But I'm not sure animalistic is the right word for
it.

I guess many writers see the slayer as a primal thing, since its passed down through the generations(i.e one slayer dies, it jumps to the next one in line), and since we saw the first slayer being quite the caveman, i guess its not such a big stretch of imagination to imagine the slayer "force" to be a primal force aswell.

As for purring, i guess it depends on how you picture the slayer to be given her powers. Before the season that shall not be named, we didnt really have any real indication on how the slayer came to be, and if we go by the the theory that it is an animal spirit(again not really that big a stretch, we saw spirit possession in The pack, and those possessed were given powers that were not too far from the slayer).

Then we just have to figure out what sort of animal spirit the slayer would be possessed by/based on, and cat really is the thing that springs to mind for me:) If you were to compare Buffy to an animal, whitch one would you pick?:)

Anyway, as for the "explanation" in season 7, well, my personal theory on season 7 is that the whole season is really just the fevered dreams of insano-spike, and that everything after he and buffy meets up in lessons takes place in his subconsiousness.(did i spell that word right). That gives me an perfectly believeable explanation on why the whole season revolves around spike(he is selfcentered afterall), why Buffy is acting like a bitch to all her friends and only cares about spike, and why the origin of the slayers powers is demonic(it makes her more like him, so hey, another reason for them to be together).

The whole dying part in the end of the season, thats really just his mind adjusting to the fact that 5 seconds after buffy first saw him in the cellar, she staked his sorry butt, and stomped on his ashes.

Zorro.
