Actually Pern is in the future, lost colony ship crashes, mankind regresses
blah blah blah. Additionally Anne McCaffrey is the anti-fanfiction-beast. She
disagrees with it, forbids it in her own work and has attempted to track down
fanficcers of her work. Not a nice lady. Good storyteller though...at least
the early books.
