Re: Would Buffy quit?

It was always there, it just got to a point where she couldn't
ignore or try to deny it, any more. There's a reason Faith got
under her skin so much, why she kept sympathising and
overidentifying with the dark Slayer, even in This Year's Girl
(besides the sex thing).

Ok I have to disagree that it was always there. It wasn't in the first
seasons and I'm still kind of vague about it being there in season three.
She never went out hunting in season four, she just went patrolling.

She was going heavily on instinct, that year, just letting her
senses and instincts and passions make the decisions. It got to a
point where the idea that she'd come back "wrong" was comforting, to
her. Like with Faith, earlier, there's a reason Spike was able to
get to her like that. What ended up being shattering was learning
that she didn't come back wrong, after all, this was just her. And,
since she learned it from the always loving, completely empathic and
understanding Tara, who wouldn't judge her, she couldn't have her
self-loathing reinforced, like she would have with a certain couple
of other people...

I didn't see any of that. I'm not dismissing it, I just didn't see it. I
think the idea that she came back wrong was comforting because then she
would have an excuse to be depressed and withdrawn, not that she was running
on instinct.

It was always Joss writing the big episodes, though, and guiding the
rest. Buffy's S7 journey was Joss's, based on the things HE had to
learn to be able to run the company.

Well, you see my personal opinion of Joss Whedon and his idea of
revisionist history is beginning to get in the way of this conversation. I
think I need to back out of it.

The fact is he left the show high and dry with no influence so he could
run his other two more manly shows. And I can count on one hand all the
episodes he wrote from season 4 through 7 or ok maybe one hand and a few
fingers. Still, that was not writing the important episodes nor was it
guiding.

There are two things I'm thankful for, 1) Buffy and 2) that Angel is
ending so that he can't screw up the characters anymore.

Willow: "It's a good fight, Buffy, and I want in."
Buffy: "I kinda love you."
