Rather than repeat everything I said the last time this subject came up,
last November, I just dug out the relevant post.   (I wonder if we
should make a FAQ.)

This is actually my follow-up after I said Buffy's birthday was January
20th, and someone pointed out that most Zodiacs list the 20th as the
first day of Aquarius, not the end of Capricorn.  (Although our two B/W
authors who were actually born on January 20thRainne and
kimlydisagree with each other on that point.)

So here's how I replied to that news:

You're right, Aquarius does start on January 20th.  I was misled because
most Zodaical signs start later in the monthGemini starts on May
21st, which is why we can claim Cordelia (May 22nd), but not David
Boreanaz (May 20th).  

In fact, only two other signs start as early as Aquarius.  (Pisces
starts on February 19th, and Taurus commences on April 20th.) 

So Buffy is describing January 19th, not the 20th.  Unfortunately, that
doesn't work at **all** because January 19th, 1998 is a Monday and they
all had school the day before Buffy's birthday in "Surprise".  And no,
the ep didn't just skip from Friday to Mondayboth the Willow/Oz and
Xander/Cordelia conversations specifically mention that Buffy's birthday
is "tomorrow". 

So I'll go with the birthday being the 20th, and ascribe the
astrological conclusion to one of these possibilities: 

a)  Buffy got it mixed up and just thinks she's a Capricorn 

b)  Buffy knows she's an Aquarius and simply misspoke. 

c)  Buffy was embarking on a clever plan to drive Riley crazy by fibbing
ever so slightly about her astrological sign. 

d)  Marti Noxon (who wrote the Buffy/Riley scenes in "Doomed") got it
backwards. 

e)  Actually, in Sunnydale, January 20th IS the last day of Capricorn.
Just one of the many subtle differences between our world and the
Buffyverse.  (Very clever, Joss!) 

f)  Buffy's birthday actually IS on the 19th, it's just that Sunnydale
High has classes on Sunday, to combat the "extra evil vibe from the
Hellmouth".  No wonder Buffy was so glad to blow the place up. 

g)  It's really clever foreshadowing of "Normal Again" and the slight
variation in astrological signs is a very subtle proof that Buffy really
is in an asylum. 

h)  We're way overanalyzing this. 

i)  Buffy needs Willow to kiss her RIGHT NOW!!!  (Whadaya mean, that's
off-topic?  Oh, yeah?  Sez you!) 

j)   It's all part of a calculated plan to drive us mad!  Mad, I tell
you, MAD!! 

k)   They're coming to take me away, ha-ha, they're coming to take me
away!!  More fic!! 

l)   All of the above. 

I think my logic speaks for itself.

newly-added PS:  "I Will Remember You" might be on the weekend after
Thanksgiving, since in "Something Blue" Riley is already back from Iowa
and it's apparently before Buffy and Willow spent any time talking about
Buffy's trip to LA.  So maybe Buffy waited a day or two before heading
down the 101 to read Angel the riot act.
