For some reason there's a pro-redemption angle with Snape in a lot of fanfic. He's got a badboy thing going for him, I guess. Same reason so many people ship Spike with everyone, Buffy especially. From what little I've seen, in any Buffy/HP crossover, the greatest odds are for a Buffy/Draco pairing. Draco is essentially Spike Jr.Again, people are still writing stories, and lots of them. The only thing that's taken a hit, as near as I can tell, is shipping the Fab Four with each other. Well, that and W/K just never took off. When you see tons of complaints calling Kennedy a manipulative stalker coming between Willow and Buffy, and most of it's coming from people who AREN'T Wiffy shippers, you've got an unpopular character. Thetrend I've noticed with Willow shipping is Anyone But Kennedy. Willow's getting shipped all over the place, with all kinds of people,especially with how popular crossover fic has become. Between them, Buffy, Willow, Dawn, and Faith are working their way through most of the Harry Potter cast (Ginny hasn't met a Slayer she won't tease), especially Snape, for some reason. Even Illyria's flirting with him. He's become the Spike of HP fic. :) E
And let's face it, most stable canon pairings are gonna get the shaft. What's the least used pairing among Star Trek fanfic? Miles and Keiko O'Brien, the only married couple on the series. Sure there's a lot of Riker/Troi, but they've mostly been split up during the series. Unstable canon pairings don't make for good stories. That's why there's next to no Buffy/Riley fanfic, and very little Willow/Kennedy.
