Re: 'Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight' Discussion

Agreed howard...everyone seemed to be isolated in
this episode except willow and xander who seemed
quite connected through most of it.
I liked this episode, it was very different from
anything they've done since then (except for that
one episode w/the trio). The fact that they
included the whole conspiracy and the Men in
Black thing was cool, too. spiffy even.
I just love clea duvall, she's just great. If
you haven't seen "But I'm a Cheerleader" you
should definitely see it, it's great. (I know,
not buffy related, but thought I'd put it in
anyway).

<<When Buffy was talking to Willow about Marcie's
band history with the flute, am I the only one
who had an "American Pie" flashback? I didn't think so.>> LOL...I actually didn't, but that
was a really good point.

<<A question about invisible people. Not trying
to be pornographic here, but did her clothes
become invisible too? If not, there's a nekid
girl running around! If they did, has she been
wearing the same clothes for the past six months? Eew.>> well it doesn't really
matter since she's invisible, but I think that
her clothes would go invisible too. maybe she
stocked up on febreeze before/after going
completely invisible.
<<Even when she's the most alone, she's got her
Willow.>> I don't know what you by this, unless
I missed part of the episode somehow.

Hello Everybody!

This episode is about isolation and there are
three different examples shown. The first is
obvious: Marcie's descent into invisibility. The

second is also quite direct: Cordelia's trite,
yet seemingly heartfelt "I'm all alone in a
crowd" speech. The third, more subtle one is
Buffy. Xander and Willow reminisce, leaving
Buffy out.
Buffy has fond memories of her Prom Princess,
Fiesta Queen past that Xander and Willow cannot share. Her teen-speak and Americana leave Giles
behind. Cordy and the Cordettes--the Sunnydale
equivalent of her old Hemery crowd--all look down

on her. All that was missing was something
slayery distancing her from her mother.

General Stuff:

When Buffy was talking to Willow about Marcie's
band history with the flute, am I the only one
who had an "American Pie" flashback? I didn't think so.

In Sunnydale, the most recent missing student
is six months ago? Actually, even more
nonsensically, it was the list of missing *and
dead* that Marcie was most recent on. If so,
then there was a six-month gap between "The
Puppet Show" and this episode.

A question about invisible people. Not trying
to be pornographic here, but did her clothes
become invisible too? If not, there's a nekid
girl running around! (Okay, maybe I went a
little
porno there for a moment. Sorry.) If they did,
has she been wearing the same clothes for the
past six months? Eew.

Wiffy Stuff:

Despite the subtle emphasis on Buffy's
isolation, there were still plenty of shared
glances in this episode. True, it's not very
'shippy, but it's evidence of their close
friendship. Even when she's the most alone,
she's got her Willow.
