This episode would set up quite a few things down the line.  We've got
the Codex, which will be key to the season finale.  We'll see what
happens with Cordy's boyfriend, soon, and how it affects her.  We'll
also find out, shortly, that Cordy DOES have a clue about what's going
on, that yeah, she heard what Marcie was saying.

The other shoe from this episode dropped three seasons later, as we
learned that shadowy Feds know that strange things go on in Sunnydale,
and wondered what else they knew.
