I don't hate Spuffies, I just hate Spike.

There are a lot of unconventional and conventional pairings supported by the Buffy fandom that don't receive the hate and discontent that Spuffy supporters do.  It's because the Spuffies got two seasons of the series where the characters were twisted beyond recognition in order to make the couple canon.

So the Spuffies get extra scorn because the series was broken to make them happy.

But I don't hate the Spuffies personally.  I just want to do better than them.
