I am upset that they killed a positive gay role model. But Joss has a point. Part of wanting gay equality is the desire to be treated no differently from heterosexuals. If Joss' only reason for NOT killing Tara was that shes gay...that would be as wrong as killing Tara because shes gay. Unfortunately...Willow is the character Joss was developing for the long haul...not Tara. The death of Tara was what snapped an already insecure Willow ....I mean...she was hanging on by a thread all season....and in past seasons ("Somthing Blue"). Without Buffy ...and Xander to lean on this season...she was toast.
The above snippet containted no reference to the finale...just general buffy stuff....so no spoiler space was needed. Willow snapped at the end of 'Seeing Red'.
