i remember reading an interview with Aly and Nick Brendon in SFX mag 
a few years ago... don't quote me on it, but i think it was circa 
S4/5... i remember they asked her who she hung out with on set... 
she listed Tony, Nick and James... a vague reference was made to 
Sarah spending a lot of time on set with her tae-kwon-do trainer. i 
remember thinking it was a little odd at the time, b/c i too 
remember all those pics taken around S1/2, where they seemed to be 
so close.

all the theories Dan listed have a lot of merit... i *love* the 
shippy ideas (i did read an interview with SMG where she referred to 
Elle McPherson as 'hot', and said that she might be tempted to leave 
Freddie for her if the opportunity arose. in jest? perhaps... then 
again, perhaps not...)

i'm inclined to go with Dan's first theory, though... through S1-3 
SMG was the 'star' of the show... Aly and Nick were relatively 
unknown. then Aly starts getting successful... and SMG has a few 
films flop... well, you can see how someone might let that get in 
the way of a good friendship. and i'd say that there was a definite 
change in the chemistry between them... a kind of distance, if you 
like... around that time.

but hey, that's just my two cents worth.
